Marketing Collateral
As Marketing Assistant, my job was to redesign all outdated marketing tools to meet current branding guidelines, which included business cards, presentation templates, case studies, furniture spec sheets and instructions, RFP templates and various other collateral.
After doing research into the companies values, previous materials and digital content, I approached each new design with certain constraints in mind, while also trying to innovate and bring new ideas to the brand.
One of my main takeaways when working with a brand is that it is important to trust what has already been previously built. To embrace a brand and respect the choices they have made, but to push new perspectives.
Request for Proposal
Along with the marketing collateral that I created, some of the main B2B projects I contributed to were RFP’s. I started off by working with all previous assets and updating them to current branding standards. This in itself elevated the overall look and feel of future RFP’s that were submitted.
The second role I took on was putting together the documents with InDesign, using the various information needed from different departments to meet the requirements of the RFP’s. This was a valuable job to have because each RFP was different and with each project we were faced with new challenges. Not only did I have to adapt each time, but I also had to do it under strict time crunches.
Although we did not win every RFP that I worked on, each time the process of making an RFP became more efficient. This is one project that I strongly believe will have lasting effects on the company.
Internal Communications
Another main part of my job was assisting with internal communication in Mayhew by creating newsletters, event flyers, employee orientation programs, brochures, posters and a social hub intranet called stomping ground.
In collaboration with HR, I found that working on these projects had lasting effects on coworkers and the vibe of the office. It was refreshing to see immediate responses to my work and how it helped with bringing departments together.
The designs I created here also influenced marketing collateral. This is because internal projects play a huge role in company environments and encompass company values. As a commercial design firm, Mayhew strives to improve workspaces, so their marketing should reflect those ideals.
