Silent Video 

 

Video Concept

This project demonstrates how limiting ones resources can provide focus and innovation. The only parameter of the assignment was that there could be no audio, silent. We had to give an inanimate object a voice without a voice.

Using the microphone, I tried to build an experience around it. The idea of the microphone creating its own music. Having no audio meant that every scene had to be physically explained. Focusing on a specific line of ideation was made easier due to these limits. 

My Role

There were three main components to this assignment; filming, collecting sourced content and editing. I did not have the resources to film some of the more dynamic, colourful scenes so I had to look for royalty free sourced footage. This became a pivotal part of the project as the clips I chose had to blend well with my own. The part I found to be the hardest and most rewarding was the editing because the unity of the footage and how it tells the microphones story are what I found so compelling about this project.
